Collection: Symphony of Leather
Born and raised in Gweru, Zimbabwe, with creative, innovative, and inspirational parents, I was always taught to “stick with it” and “If it doesn’t work try again”. I have always dreamed about owning my own business and doing something creative with my hands.
Since moving to Cape Town in 2004, God has certainly taken me on a rollercoaster in different industries, but clinging to Jeremiah 29v11, I learned very important lessons. In hospitality, for instance, I learned the importance of paying attention to detail; in teaching, patience; trauma counselling, we all have a story that can become a testimony; admin, every minute counts and even though you do the same work every day, you can still make a difference.
My passion has always been to learn something new and then to teach the skill to someone else. In 2012, knowing I had to take a leap of faith, Cedar Wild Creations was born, consisting of mostly mosaics, handmade baby shoes, material handbags and so on. When leatherwork came across my path in 2014, it was as though a light had gone on. Completing a course and then teaching for a while, I felt the need to explore more with designs and integrating colours to the boring “brown, brown, brown” in leather.
Moving to the Boland in 2017 I could no longer use the name “Cedar” in my title, and so Symphony of Leather was born. In 2018 my husband, Jacques join me in the craft, and together we dream and live out our passion in creating new things every day!
